The Foundry 2005

John Platter South African Wine Guide 4 ½ Stars
100% Shiraz.  Deep opaque purple-ruby in colour.  The enticingly perfumed bouquet is exotic with hints of wild herbs, plum fruit and has a pronounced savoury and spicy character.  The palate is intense and rich with generous ripe fruit and structured, silky tannins.  There is a delicious, lingering fruit and spice aftertaste.

De Trafford 2007
John Platter South African Wine Guide 5 Stars : Wine Spectator 95 Points
Deep bright red colour, intense but elegant wild and red berry fruit with complex spice and white pepper nuances – all very persistent.  Lovely purity of fruit on the palate, despite the range of interesting secondary flavours, including spice, pepper and subtle oak.  Fine, dry and persistent finish.  A pity to spoil this wine with food!

Perhaps best served with plainer food like roast chicken, potatoes and butternut squash.
